I agree with the last review...this is a very well made FOB AUD. Glassberg had his sh!t dialed for this recording. Also check out Glassberg's 3-9-81 MSG, an even better concert with the same rich FOB sound. This show is a somewhat average performance, but the Scarlet>Fire is very good. Thanks, Barry!

In the never-ending quest for pristine audience recordings, I've come across this show.
Fully-saturated. You are near the inside of the PA boxes. Nice. Only very slightly thin at the very top. Bass is fairly tight and in tact, not anywhere near what is more common in open-air recordings, boom-y and dispersed. You can hear the crowd as they interact with the band, but only as a 'crowd' . . . no individual voices ever. The guys making this recording hit a very sweet spot, and at .75 power on my gear, it's holding up nicely.
The show is not over-the-top, but certainly very good. First set is a bit disorganized . . . something obviously catastrophic on stage occurs early in the Half-Step (go easy on the volume here), so much so that the band is alarmed. What is usually a fairly brief solo becomes a drawn out episode with Jerry eventually playing chords to another tune (you figure it out). Order is finally restored (sorta) as everyone's hearts calm down. Still, notwithstanding some very good moments, they never do quite get on the same page during the first set. (I do like the Roses -- alot: "If I tell another what your own lips told to me . . ." Sheesh.) Second set is very fine. Rockin'. The boys are firing on all pistons. Scarlet > Fire devotees will not be disappointed. Amazing drums. Play them LOUD. Love the Sugar Magnolia, too. Phil is bouncin' all 'round.
If you get high on well-recorded audience tapes, get this one.
